Poor quality

The quality of education in Jamaica is dependent on socioeconomic background, and the learning gap between the best and worst performing schools is significant.

Gender disparities

Boys are more likely to drop out of school and underachieve in secondary education.

Low literacy

A 2019 report found that 33% of students in Jamaica could not read or barely read, and 56% struggled with writing.

Lack of access

Many students, especially those from vulnerable backgrounds, struggle to access remote education.
